The first trip of 2011 - Gala event in Ottawa.

Well 2011 has been a slow start for travel but everyone has to catch their breath every now and then. On that last trip to Ottawa in the fall, I was reading the Ottawa Citizen and came across an advertisement for the Business Women's Network for the Ottawa and Capital Region. They were looking for nominations for women who had made significant advancements in three areas. One of those was the corporate area and I felt that Amanda fit this category so I nominated her. Low and behold she got selected as one of the finalist in the Corporate section.

The web site for this group is http://www.womensbusinessnetwork.ca/  .

Well April 18th saw us flying to Ottawa to attend the Gala being held at the Hampton Inn & Convention Centre. John and Anita Conohan also flew up and Amanda's bosses Diane and Martha joined us at the table. It was a great trip and wonderful to see Amanda recognized for all of her hard work. Now she did not win the award but was honored and very excited to be there.

Where have we been since New Zealand and Australia!

After the big trip last year I felt I had no reason to continue with the Blog so it has been sitting for a little while and then recently I decided that I would continue with the posts for all the other little trips that we have been able to get in.

So thought I would just throw in there a few of the trips from last year to catch up with and then I will try and keep things posted in a more timely manner.

In July last year Donna, Dianna's sister came to visit us for a few days and we got a chance to do a little touring around our area. We took a day and drove down to Advocate Harbour through Joggins and Shulie and area she had never been to before and then a great lunch at The Wild Caraway Restaurant in Advocate Harbour. Great spot if you are ever in the area. The food is fantastic and very reasonably priced. We then took a run up to Cape D'Or Lighthouse to view the Bay of Fundy and then home for a BBQ that night.

In August of 2010 we hit the road for a visit to Ottawa to visit the kids. They seemed to have an event planned for us everyday, such as riding Harley's around Ottawa, to renting bicycles to tour the trails along the Ottawa River, flying in a 1936 Waco Bi-Plane it just never stopped. We ended with a great day at the Nordic Spa in Quebec lounging around in the pools and sauna's. We had a great time.

Pedaling this should be an experience.

September - Labour Day Weekend in Woodstock, Ont.

Well it had been awhile since we made it up to visit Donna so we arranged for a quick trip over the Labour Day Weekend. We had a great visit even though it was short and made a trip to Point Peelee Park to see if we could catch any of the Monarch butterflies getting ready for their big flight south. We also got to enjoy the bird feeders in Donna and Rennie's back yard.

Well we could help ourselves so we took one more trip to Ontario to join the kids for Thanksgiving. We had a great visit and went hiking in the Gatineau Park and took it easy.
